DEFINITION OF POSITIONDirectly responsible for quality math instruction to middle school students

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Middle School Principal

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess or be eligible for a Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Mathematics
  • Successful teaching, substituting or student teaching experience at the middle school level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as a math teacher at the middle school level
  • Experience and/or desire to coach or lead an extracurricular athletic or academic team 

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Fulfill all teaching assignments effectively including algebra, geometry, and support mathematics
  • Work cooperatively with other grade level teachers and staff members of the school
  • Plan and develop quality instructional experiences followed by regular assessment and positive, consistent communication for students and parents
  • Select and/or create instructional lessons to appropriately support adopted materials
  • Organize the physical setting and model behaviors conducive to learning
  • Organize individual, small and large group learning activities as is appropriate to the students, subject matter, and outcomes desired
  • Knowledge of grade level standards and assessments
  • Strong instructional skills to assist students struggling to meet state standards
  • Maintain accurate records of student information and assessment data with the ability to access the information as needed or requested
  • Understand the unique needs of the young adolescent student
  • Recognize conditions which may lead to disciplinary problems
  • Participate in the Professional Learning Community with a focus of ensuring learning for all students
  • Participate in building/district in-service activities, professional growth opportunities and curricular planning
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies, etc.)
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible 

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

  • Salary: $21,819 - $41,126 per year (actual contract amount will be pro-rated based on the number of days worked), placement based on experience and level of education
  • Length of Contract: Leave replacement position beginning January 6, 2025 through April 25, 2025
  • Leaves/Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.  Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).  Additional benefits may include sick/emergency leave and personal leave as per the collective bargaining agreement between the Pullman Education Association (PEA) and the Pullman School District (PEA Bargaining Agreement).
