DEFINITION OF POSITION:  Develop and maintain a successful track program in conjunction with the head girls track coach; oversee the boys track program

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR(S):  Athletic Director, Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience
• Per WIAA regulations, head coach must be 21 years old
• Current First Aid/CPR card
• Ability to obtain WIAA “Hands-on” Pole Vault certification
• Pullman School District Type II license, or ability to obtain one upon hire 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• College degree and/or teaching certificate
• Coaching experience at the middle school level or equivalent 

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

• Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete, teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively, and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
• Provide leadership for all levels, and ensure the successful operation, of the track program
• Coordinate athlete development and skill level
• Cooperate with other school programs
• Develop support for the program from players, students, parents, and the community
• Make team participation a positive experience
• Inventory management
• Budget management
• Field preparation
• Positive presentation of the program to the community
• Work within guidelines of WIAA, Greater Spokane League, and the Pullman School District
• Direct all aspects of the sport and events
• Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills while working in a positive manner with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies, etc.)
• Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
• Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
• Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
• Work with minimal supervision and be flexible 

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

• Salary: Stipend Position: $6,008-$7,748 per full sports season – The filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.
