DEFINITION OF POSITION:  To assist in the development and maintenance of a successful basketball program.

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Head Coach 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience
  • Per WIAA regulations, an assistant coach must be 19 years old and a head coach must be 21 years old
  • Current First Aid/CPR card
  • Pullman School District Type II license, or ability to obtain one upon hire 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College/University training or experience in the activity
  • Coaching experience at the high school level or equivalent 

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete, teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively, and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
  • Game preparation
  • Positive presentation of the program to the community
  • Develop support for the program from players, students, parents, and community
  • Work within guidelines of WIAA, Greater Spokane League, and the Pullman School District
  • Complete required WIAA rules clinic and concussion training
  • Provide leadership in developmental programs
  • Coordinate player development and skill level
  • Cooperate with other school programs
  • Adjust system to player personnel available upon recommendation of head coach
  • Help coordinate summer program
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies, etc.)
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible 

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

  • Salary: Stipend Position: $5,619-$6,279 per school year – The filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.            
  • Leaves/Benefits:  N/A
