DEFINITION OF POSITION:  The Emergency Substitute Teacher will work as an on-call teacher to assist schools on a program need basis. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Ability to obtain a Washington State Emergency Substitute Certificate, including successful completion of a fingerprint/background check
  • Experience working with school-aged children 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience teaching appropriate grade level and/or subject areas

ESSENTIAL JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Maintain a positive, calm, and safe learning environment
  • Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Provide assistance and guidance to individual students
  • Maintain appropriate student records, including daily grades and attendance reports
  • Utilize technology to deliver lessons using online platforms (Seesaw, Google, etc.)
  • Enforce school rules and monitor student behavior
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and administrators
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible           

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

  • Terms of Assignment: On call as needed
  • Salary: $150 per day, or $75.00 per half day
  • Benefits: Paid sick leave per RCW 49.46.210
